Junior Merchandiser | Edinburgh | Hybrid Working | £28,000 - £30,000
We're partnering with the UK's largest retailer within their market, a business that has proudly operated for over 150 years, with a vast store estate and a powerful national e-commerce presence. This is a fantastic next-step Merchandising opportunity where you'll play a key role in shaping how your category performs, balancing analysis, commercial decision-making, and forward planning to drive sales, profit and range success.
As a Junior Merchandiser, you'll take ownership of essential trading tools, support the day-to-day management of department performance, and work closely with your Merchandiser to ensure stock, forecasting and strategy all land exactly where they need to. You'll partner closely with Buying, lead junior team members, and help build robust seasonal plans that optimise sales while minimising risk.
What You'll Be Doing:
Build, maintain and continuously refine reporting dashboards for your department, ensuring insights are timely, accurate and commercially useful.
Track daily line-level performance and adjust your sales forecasts accordingly, communicating weekly to your Merchandiser and highlighting emerging OTB opportunities.
Own and update the WSSI, producing monthly reforecasts and identifying where phasing, cancellations or stock pulls are needed to protect margin and sell-through.
Work hand-in-hand with the Buyer on range building, sharing data-led recommendations on bestsellers, move-ons and emerging trends.
Support the development of clear seasonal plans, factoring in trend shifts, sales history and market conditions to build a balanced, profitable assortment.
Collaborate with junior team members to run daily system uploads, generate trading reports and ensure accuracy across all critical path and delivery schedules.
Partner with stores and store management teams to understand customer profiles, gather qualitative feedback and ensure operational challenges are escalated quickly.
Conduct deep-dive analysis into past seasons, market trends and category behaviours to identify risks early and highlight growth opportunities.
Work with Space Planning to ensure ranges land cleanly, planograms are executed correctly, and replenishment settings maximise availability.
Support the creation of trade summaries, strategy packs and lessons-learnt documents, feeding confidently into discussions with senior management.
Help maintain the buying calendar and critical path, ensuring all milestones - from sign-off to delivery - hit the required timelines.
Contribute to pricing architecture decisions, ensuring ranges are competitive in the market while supporting promotional planning when needed.
Build strong supplier relationships to ensure fast problem-solving and a smooth flow of stock.
Play a key role in driving divisional KPIs across sales, stock, intake, margin and markdown performance.
Ensure stores have the right stock levels both on the shop floor and in the stockroom, supporting the team to meet store-level KPIs.
