About the Opportunity
An established and growing business within the distribution sector is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to support growth across the group.
As the business continues to expand, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Planner to join our operations team.
The Role
This is a key position within a fast-paced transport operation, responsible for coordinating the daily movement of products to and from customer sites.
You'll play a vital role in ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely, efficiently and on time, while maintaining excellent customer service and ensuring transport compliance at all times.
The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive and confident making decisions in a busy operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and schedule daily deliveries and collections.
Coordinate drivers, vehicles and routes to maximise efficiency and minimise costs.
Monitor transport activity throughout the day, responding quickly to delays or operational issues.
Liaise with customers, drivers and internal departments to ensure smooth service delivery.
Ensure compliance with transport legislation, driver hours and company procedures.
Maintain accurate transport records and documentation.
Manage customer enquiries relating to deliveries, collections and logistics.
Identify potential issues before they arise and implement effective solutions.
About You
You'll have experience within transport planning, logistics or fleet coordination and enjoy working in a fast-moving environment where no two days are the same.
You'll also have:
Strong geographical knowledge and route planning skills.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
The ability to prioritise workloads and remain calm under pressure.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Good IT skills, including experience with transport planning software and Microsoft Office.
A sound understanding of transport legislation, driver hours and compliance requirements.
