Our client is looking for a highly motivated New Business Manager to drive new partnerships and business growth by attracting independent retailers to join their expanding network across the South West. You will be a key part of the business development team, responsible for identifying opportunities, building relationships, and closing deals with independent convenience store owners.
About the Role:
As New Business Manager, your main focus will be to identify, approach, and sign new independent retail partners, helping to expand our client's convenience store brand. You will work closely with potential partners, demonstrating the value of joining the brand and providing tailored solutions that meet their needs. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a target-driven environment and enjoys developing long-term business relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identify and target independent retailers who could benefit from joining the brand. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of potential new business opportunities.
- Sales Outreach: Initiate contact through cold calling, networking, and attending industry events to build interest and generate leads.
- Relationship Management: Build strong, consultative relationships with independent retailers, understanding their business needs and presenting the brand as a valuable partner.
- Negotiation & Contracting: Lead negotiations and guide potential partners through the contracting process, ensuring mutually beneficial terms.
- Onboarding and Support: Work with internal teams to ensure seamless onboarding for new retail partners, providing them with the tools, training, and support needed to succeed.
- Market Insights: Keep a pulse on industry trends and competitive activity, sharing valuable insights with internal teams to support continued business growth.
- Reporting & Performance: Track progress against sales targets and KPIs, providing regular updates to the management team.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience in new business development, sales, or account management, ideally within the retail or convenience store sector.
- A strong understanding of the independent retail market and the challenges small business owners face.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships.
- Results-driven, with a self-starter mentality and the ability to work independently.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to close deals and drive business growth.
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet prospective partners and attend relevant industry events.
