We have an exciting new opportunity to join our dynamic Finance team as a Finance Manager. This position as Finance Manager, has been created due to a new chapter of growth within the business, it would be a chance to take on and lead a brand-new team with 1 direct report and also working closely with the wider groups finance teams. We are looking for someone with a strong technical accounting background who is a passionate manager and enjoys keeping those really important relationships between Finance and the wider areas of the Retail teams.
Responsibilities:
Month end- Prepare and post period end journal entries ensuring accurate recording of all costs in a timely manner.
- Complete robust balance sheet reconciliations to agreed deadlines with all reconciling items investigated and resolved promptly.
- Investigate and prepare narrative explaining variances to budget and prior year for key expense categories.
- Preparation of reporting to communicate performance to the management team.
Business partnering- Identify drivers of overspend, prepare ad hoc analysis, and develop recommendations to reduce finance risk.
- Development and mature stakeholder relationships across the Retail team and with central department Heads.
- Support the budgeting and forecast process, liaising closely with the rest of the team.
- Significant involvement in the year-end process, preparation of deliverables for the audit and key contact for the auditors during the audit process.
- Support the development of a robust control environment by continuously identifying opportunities to improve financial systems and processes and by implementing these changes.
- Ongoing non-business as usual project work within the finance team as and when required.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA)
- Experience in a similar role
- Team management experience
- Desire to develop and coach the team
- Good time and organisation skills
- Good communication, influencing and presentation skills
- Proven business partner skills; capable of building relationships within various departments and leadership team
- Ability to identify errors and good attention to detail
- Strong excel skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced, commercially focused environment and able to adapt to change quickly
