North West London (Currently 3 days in office, 2 home)

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join a award winning FMCG company. This role will play a crucial part in supporting the Senior Finance Manager. As an experienced Accountant you will support the smooth production of all statutory submissions & returns along with production of accurate and complete financial statements.

The role

  • Ensure all key balance sheet nominals are reconciled
  • Oversee the bank reconciliation to make sure it is fully reconciled
  • Ensure stock accounting, reconciliation's and valuation is correct. Working closely with other departments on issue resolution and process/system improvements.
  • Credit control including the issue of customer statements, allocating cash receipts, and chasing overdue debt
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring assets are held within the business, and correct application of additions, disposals, depreciation, and impairment
  • Complete on a timely basis the tax returns for VAT, PAYE and corporation tax
  • Support the annual audit process by providing accurate year end schedule and working closely with the external auditors
  • Support Senior Finance team with maintaining accounting policies, procedures, internal controls for the General Ledger area.
  • SAP Expert, development and maintenance of the system, and maximisation of value from accounting system.
  • KPI reporting

  • Other

  • Work closely with the Property Accountant to ensure accounting for investment companies is correct and complete. Act as backup during time of absence of the Property Accountant
  • Involved ad hoc finance projects and respond to / report on ad hoc requests for information.
  • Constantly aim to improve the way finance processes are performed
  • Understand key tasks performed by other finance members, so that with absences or urgencies you can temporarily fill in and supported.

Key skills

  • Part Qualified or Newly Qualified ACCA
  • Previous experience working in an General Ledger function (FMCG or Retail sector preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail and administration skills
  • Experience using SAP and/or other ERP systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be IT literate: Microsoft suite
  • Strong team player
  • Proactive, self starter
