An exciting opportunity as an experienced Payroll Manager to join our client who boasts an excellent culture, with their people being central to their success. The business has a consumer focus and partners with several large organisations meaning it expects to continue to perform well. The Payroll Manager requires end to end payroll experience which is essential to be considered.

Key responsibilities

As our Payroll Manager you will lead the Payroll Team and provide a first-class service to the business and our colleagues by ensuring that all payroll processes are completed accurately and on time and to ensure compliance with HMRC, UKBA and other statutory and legal requirements.

  • To ensure that documents for starters, leavers and contractual variations using our in-house integrated HR/payroll system are processed & correctly input, ensuring that all supporting documents including Right to work documents are made available.
  • Periodic review of RTW for validity and renewal reminders
  • Responsiblefor end to end processing of all payrolls for 3,500 employees (12 fortnightly spread over 2 weeks and 10 monthly, within prescribed deadlines and file RTI submissions on time to HMRC.
  • Understand the company Pensions process and operation of both The People's Pension (NEST) and AVIVA systems to comply with the Auto Enrolment Regulations.

Handling day-to-day pension related queries from employees and reconciling pension contribution reports from payroll with payments accepted by direct debit payments to pension providers.

  • Resolve payroll and pension queries from managers and employees including requests form NEST and AVIVA, myepaywindow self-service logon details to view payslips, P60s and P11Ds.
  • Produce and dispatch termination statements, final holidays and P45/final payslips for leavers.
  • Work closely with Finance team to ensure that they have the required information on time for production of business monthly accounts.

Produce relevant reports and statistics from the Star Payroll system for financial management accounts and central management information systems.

  • Assist Finance in reconciling Wages, PAYE, Pension and AOE Control account.
  • Manage Sick Pay Scheme and various sick pay schemes inherited through TUPE transfers following certain acquisitions. Includes receipt and safe filing of all Self-certificates, Fit Notes and applying the relevant company sick pay scheme to ensure correct payment.

Produce monthly statistics of sick pay levels for management information.

  • Complete employee related National Statistics Office surveys
  • Manage and ensure your team are supported with their ongoing development and goals.
  • Manage Quarterly 121's and support each member.
  • Ensure the team work well and support each other and forms a healthy partnership with the Finance and Operational functions
  • Regularly review, amend and implement routines, procedures and controls to make it best fit for business and future proof.
  • Regularly review systems and interfaces to improve internal efficiencies

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience dealing with end to end payroll processes including inputting and sign off - Essential
  • Minimum of 3 years payroll management experience in an end to end environment
  • Knowledge of all PAYE processes and documentation including P11d and end of year procedures and on line filing.
  • Team player, self starter and ability to work with minimum supervision, uses initiative and take responsibility for own actions.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels including Senior Managers.
  • IT literate including strong Excel and database skills, Outlook, Word, Power point.
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexible working hours

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge and use of IRIS Payroll (Star Payroll software)
